MEDICAL FREEDOM
The freedom and statutory rights of students and parents needs to be defended and protected. School Boards do not have authority to make medical decisions for their students without parental consent.
In 2020, during COVID-19, school boards abused their position of authority to enforce mask mandates on students in spite of overwhelming data showing that masks were ineffective at preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Many parents pleaded with school board members to end the mandate. Children with learning disabilities were struggling to keep up while others suffered from anxiety due to masking and depression from the isolation of distance learning.
The district could receive more federal money by extending COVID restrictions. They tried to find a way to do that in spite of Gov. DeSantis' Executive Order preventing schools from masking. Without notifying or including other parents, the Superintendent and Chairman met privately with one of the leaders in the St. Johns County Democrat Party. This meeting also included a doctor who is a well known liberal activist who brought his own data to try to sway them. They wanted the students masked for another year and were looking for ways to justify doing it.

INAPROPRIATE MATERIAL
Material containing explicit content has no place in our schools, there is no debating that. There is so much research on the harmful effects of children being exposed to lewd material. I want to ensure that our district is rid of it.
I fully support Gov. DeSantis' House Bill 1557 "Parental Rights in Education". It is not the place of the public school system to make these materials accessible to impressionable minors. Books that perpetuate gender confusion, depict rape and incest or that have graphic illustrations are inexcusable and unacceptable regardless of narratives.
CRITICAL RACE THEORY
Children are being indoctrinated through critical race theory (CRT) to believe that their race determines whether they are an oppressor or are oppressed. It teaches that a person's skin color makes them more privileged or successful than others and that certain groups of people are racist by nature.

Critical race theory was an idea born at Harvard Law School in the 1970's and has now become part of mainstream academia. It's an idea that states racism is present in every interaction and is everywhere, always. A concept that everyone's actions are always motivated by race even when they don't realize it.
People support and defend CRT calling it racial justice and a fight for equality. CRT is not a continuation of Civil Rights. It is an anti-American idea meant to sow division and I do not accept the premise. No child should be shamed and made to feel they are inherently bad based on their race . That is actual racism and racism is wrong.
